This is a large modern building that stands out because of its red and grey boxy exterior. It was completed in 2016 and has a total of 430 1 and 2 bedroom suites. This is a high-end building with all of its suite floorplans named after artists, such as Van Gogh and Gustav Klimt. Some of the suites are unusual shapes, which can make the layout of furniture etc. a little awkward, but does add to its quirkiness.
All of the fixtures and fitting are high-end and finished to a good standard. In the kitchen, you get a fridge freezer, microwave, stove and dishwasher, all of which are stainless steel. Most suites have an island that can accommodate a breakfast bar and stools. The bathrooms are also good quality and many suites have walk-in wardrobes. The balconies and patios are on the small size for most of the suites. Indeed, many of the suites are on the small size but are well laid out. All suites have in-suite laundry facilities.
The building does have quite a few amenities such as a large gym, games room, BBQ area and two patio areas, one of which is pet-friendly, the other not. There is also a life-size chess board to keep you amused. Guest suites are available, as are storage lockers.
A parking space in the underground, heated space is included in the rent.

This building is amazing. People are friendly. The property manager and leasing agents are so kind and helpful all the time.
They are always busy but keep smiling all the time. I lived at the Metropolitan a few years ago then was transferred out of country I just came back to Calgary and moved back into the Metropolitan. It is better managed now than before.
The amenities are great. Walking distance to Coop and dog park. CTrain is just down the road. The review below sounds like that person has an issue with the electricity company and is blaming others for her struggles. I get a hard copy in my mailbox and online from the electricity company. I have lived in many different apartments and we don’t get the choice which company supplies water heat or electricity. If you want to live downtown in the Beltline I highly recommend The Metropolitan.

So while this property shows well it was the worst experience of my life. The property management company has you sign a lease in which you are responsible for electric separately. They do not allow you to sign up for your own electric account. They have set up a third party vendor to supply the bills. The bills are not received, are 4-6 months behind. The bills do not share your actual usage of electricity for the month or how much they bill per that usual. All of this is against the landlord and tenant act.
They also in the lease have late fees if you do not pay utilities. Which the company does not provide but is expected for you to pay.
The property manager will lie about all of it, threaten you, harass you and make up lies.
The manager Statesman Group Jeff Mann will do nothing about it.

Great place to live!! The new staff/management is amazing! They really connect with the community The Met is building. They completely changed my outlook on living downtown. Changes are being made in all the right ways.
Maintenance staff is quick, efficient and friendly. We call, the answer, and nothing is ever done poorly.
I was skeptical on the whole “pet friendly” situation, but the building and residents completely changed my perspective on that. Everyone is respectful with their animals, cleans up after themselves, if not maintenance/cleaning staff is there in a heart beat.

Amazing location, loved having the porch and downtown veiw. The cost of living here is more than a mortgage on a 1/2 million dollar home. The staff is absolutely horrendous. Do not sign a lease here. Great building and amenities but horrible staff/cost

Love it here. The fit and finish of the apartment is great, especially the washer and dryer in the suite. They suites are on the small side, but I’m single in a two bed so it’s just fine. The amenities are great and the location is perfect for me.
I’ve been here nearly 2 years and if I was writing this review last year it would be bad, it’s far less stars. But over the last six months or so things are improving. New staff are much better and the place feels better run that it used to.
Last year, I would not have recommended it, but now I would. I’m renewing my lease next month, so hopefully things will continue to improve.

This building is really spoilt by its staff. My one bed apartment is very nice, small, but nice. The kitchen is lovely with great appliances and I love having a washer and dryer in my suite. But, and it’s a big but, the staff are terrible.
Complaints and even general enquires are not looked at quickly, if at all. I was late for work one day because the garage door wasn’t working and it took ages to get it fixed. One neighbor has two dogs who wimpier most days, but nothing is done and I know I am not the only person complaining.
It is such a shame because this could be a great place to live if only the staff cared. They should all live onsite so they know first hand what it’s like. Maybe then they would do their jobs.

I wish I’d known about this site before I signed my lease. When I viewed the suite it looked great, high end finish and great amenities, but the reality of actually living here is very different. The parking garage door is temperamental. I have smelt weed on my floor and reported it, but nothing has been done. Loads of dogs about who sometimes pee in the elevator which is disgusting and they are everywhere outside.
Worst of all is the staff attitude. They just don’t give a **** to anything you report or have concerns over. I will not renew my lease and once the winter is over, may break it early just to escape. I’m thinking I may go down the road to Aura/Arch or Versus.
