Kensington Gate is a large building overlooking the Bow River in fashionable Kensington. The first couple of floors are occupied by retail and parking, so the actual residential units are above. There are a number of one and two bedroom apartments as well as some townhomes. Unusually, the townhomes are located above ground level as they too are above the commercial floors.
The one-bedroom apartments are around 700 sq ft size and the two-bedroom apartments around 1,000 sq ft, but the townhomes which are on two levels are larger at 1,200 -1,300 sqft. All units include in-suite laundry. The countertops and cupboards vary in style, colour and age by the unit. All appliances are white and countertops laminate. Units have either carpeting or vinyl plank flooring. All one-beds have a single bathroom, but all two-bedroom apartments and townhomes have two bathrooms. Some units have a fireplace.
There is a communal patio area for residents, to which some units have direct access. Storage lockers are also available, but there are no other amenities. Assigned parking is available in the parking garage located below the building. It is heated and secure.

I have been a tenant here for years, and am still happy to call it “home”. The management staff is always more than willing to try to help in any way they can and always put the tenants needs and comforts first. They are constantly reviewing and adapting to the changes in the world to make the building a safe and stress-free place for all the tenants. Recently, with the Covid-19 pandemic, management has gone above and beyond to do what they can to help out all those that have been effected by the hardships. It has been, and continues to be, an absolute pleasure living here and having confidence in management to have the tenants best interests in mind.

This building is extremely dated and poorly run. Other residents were victims of theft due to poor maintenance of parking facility. The baseboard heating barely functioned. As well, the cleanliness of the units in move in is very suspect and they do not inspect the unit fairly. Instead treating your deposit as their money until forced to return as little as possible. Their commercial tenants constantly cycle through because of poor management and high costs as well.

This is truly one of the worst managed buildings in Calgary, do yourself a favour and don’t rent here. Poor management, no cameras in the parking, break ins all the time, homeless people coming in and out of the parking. Truly terrible building.

This is a slum building. Try not to live here. During a cold -35 winter the management refuses to turn the heat on in the building. So guess what, you basically are living outside like your homeless in -35 with cold air blowing into your unit. Many residents have spoken to management and they said they won’t and can’t do anything about it. They can fix the problem, there was heat before and now they rather freeze their residents cause they pay the heating in the building. And they are cheap bastards that wont. This is a health hazard so residents will probably refuse to pay rent to a place that is trying to freeze them.
