This building was a commercial office building that has been converted into residential. All 65 one and two-bedroom units have been fitted with high-end fixtures and finishes. The layouts are good and give the impression of more square footage than there actually is. The two-bedroom units have a large living room area with a large open plan kitchen. The master bedroom is a decent size and has a walkthrough double wardrobe area into an en-suite bathroom with a large shower (no bath). There is a built-in safe in the wardrobe area. The second bedroom easily fits a queen bed and has a wardrobe. The second bathroom has a bath. There is also a two-bedroom layout with a slightly smaller kitchen and larger master bath with double sinks in the vanity. The one-bedroom unit we viewed was a good layout with decent size rooms. All suites have air conditioning and in-suite washers & dryers. There are no balconies.
All the fixtures and fittings are high end with GE stainless steel appliances including microwave, dishwasher, stove and fridge freezer. The kitchen island is large with double sink and enough room to fit bar stools under. All drawers and cabinets are soft-close. Floors are vinyl plank and the countertops are quartz. One thing we noticed is that there is a central ceiling light in all the rooms, which you don’t always get in modern suites.
There is a rooftop terrace with BBQs and firepits. There is also bike storage available, but no other amenities. Parking is available in the underground, heated garage. Due to the building originally being commercial it has Shaw’s Gigabit Internet available in all suites at no extra cost.

Be aware of the fake reviews - September 3, 2020 @ 22:00
I’ve lived in 6 major buildings in Calgary and this is far the worst.
The reviewer “Jessica Y” left a near identical review on Google reviews. She has also given other strategic group buildings (the management company) 5 star reviews on Google Reviews as well as Strategic Group itself since leaving her review here. Nothing shady at all about that.

Do NOT be fooled by the new reviews that *just* moved in and everything is great. Everything will be fine when you first move in, but soon issues will begin to creep up and property management won’t do anything to fix them, or worse claim that you caused the issue. The review from Jessica Y also reads like a fake review created by property management to fill this building since they are desperate.
The biggest problem with Cube terrible property management. There is no on site property management so there is NO upkeep. Property managers change monthly. I wish I was exaggerating. Everytime you call you get someone new. If you email someone your email bounces back saying they no longer work for Strategic Group or that they are in a new building now. You will need to keep on them if you want anything done in your unit. You will have to update every new property manager with everything that happened with ALL of the previous property managers since there is never overlap between managers. Just hope your neighbors are clean/quiet/respectful since property management will not do anything.
These major issues with the building itself are the HVAC system and security . The little things that happen at all rental buildings still happen too, but nobody from Cube/Strategic Groups seems to care at all, and you have to choose what hill to die on with them. Yappy dogs, ice covering the front entry way, smoking in the stair wells, no parking garage cleaning, front buzzer not working are nothing compared to having no air flow in your unit or being told you being charged an extra months rent.
There are MAJOR issue with this building’s HVAC system. Count on your heat or AC to go out during cold snaps and extreme heat. They always claim to be “working on a big fix”, but that never seems to solve the problem and residents are the ones left in summer heat with no balcony or real windows.
There is no security. Parking garage is not secured. Isolated break ins are regular (ie 1-2 cars), but during my lease there have been two huge break ins with 25+ cars with at least 1 window smashed. You don’t need to buzz or scan to get in to the building. Just pull on the front door and it will open. This has been broken for weeks and property management apparently sees no issue with it. Just walk on in.
I am counting the days until my lease is over.

I just moved into CUBE from out of town and I am finding it amazing. I read all the reviews prior, and I am not going to lie, it was scary. The price i thought was reasonable for such a big space. I was concerned about all the mechanical issues however I have not had any. Any time i needed to speak to the community manage, Amy, she was kind, reassuring, and on top of things. I def thinks that cube is a hidden gem.

The only good thing about this place is that it has new finishes, but even that bit us in the butt when we moved out… Our apartment flooded in November 2019 (water poured in through the ceiling) and was never repaired- we moved out in June 2020. So that’s 7 months we went without baseboards, with holes in our walls, and exposed plastered walls. The only good thing about this place was Sherry Price, who actually cared about the tenants. But she didn’t last long. The management changes every 2 weeks or so, making it impossible to know who to contact for anything. They did let us move out a month early with no charge (after we fought them on it for 3 weeks). Woohoo. The parking garage was broken into at least twice when I lived there. There was no security almost ever. The front door was always broken so it never locked and the accessibility button didn’t open the door. There was no accessible button to the garage, so good luck if you have mobility difficulties and can’t open heavy doors (or just if your hands are full). When we went to move out, they sprung a $150 fee on us to use the elevator on a weekend that was never previously mentioned. After the move-out inspection was done, we were charged $105 for “not adequately cleaning” because they compared recent photos to the ones they took when we moved in (you know, when they were brand new, never touched appliances). When I asked for photo proof of the uncleanliness, they said “well the lighting doesn’t really show it. It wasn’t so much the inside as the outside, fingerprints and stuff, well no, not really fingerprints…” The safe in the suite never worked. The AC broke almost monthly. The rooftop patio (the only amenity) was closed from October to May and then closed again for COVID. My phone number never worked in the directory, even though we requested twice for it to be fixed, so deliveries never made it to us.
So yeah, don’t live here. You’ll regret it.

This place is a disaster. It has been one thing after another since moving in and it doesn’t look like it’s changing anytime soon .
Property managers change constantly. No follow up on issues.
Our heat and AC goes out constantly. During the January cold weather temperatures dropped to single digits in my unit.
We were all told construction would be over by June 2019. It continued until December 2019 6 days a week beginning at 7:30AM.
There’s been two major parkade break-ins.They still haven’t made any improvements. You never see security here.
Seriously, look elsewhere.

Imagine being offered a rental incentive like a free month then have the company come back 6 months later demanding payment for the free month. That’s the kind of place this is.

We moved into CUBE in May 2019, and suffice to say, it has been awful.
While this was an apartment in construction, we had water pouring into our living room because they didn’t have sealing on the windows! It was so bad, our couch got soaked and we still have water damage that no one has repaired and it has been since June (it is now February 2020).
Furthermore, management is awful. No one helps us, and if they do, the turnover rate of community managers is so high that every time we talk to someone about our issues it is a new person. It makes communication absolutely impossible, and we have zero leverage. We have had 6+ community managers since May!
No wonder strategic is going bankrupt.

Cube Horror - November 28, 2019 @ 15:52
PLEASE READ: I’ve been living at the Cube since May 2019 and it has been a disaster for the last 6 months. Upon signing our year lease we were promised 6 months of free parking, for the parking lot and the rooftop patio to be completed within a month of us moving in and “the fastest internet available” for an apartment building. Well. We went 6 weeks without internet, 2 months without a parkade, 3 months without the rooftop patio and I can’t even remember how long we didn’t have a proper garbage/recycling location. We have had 5 property managers, with only one being reasonable in responding to requests. They had also messed up our free parking so our rent was an issue for 4 months. And to top it off, we have had two break-ins in our parkade in the last MONTH. Upwards of 10 vehicle windows were smashed the first time and this last time, I only know of 2 vehicles that were smashed. I am appalled with the fact that they haven’t increased our security or features AND with the fact that I have emailed them trying to get out of our lease and they won’t even respond. We don’t feel safe in our own building and we want to leave. DO NOT move here. Management is terrible.

Just recently moved in here. It’s brand new, so all the fixtures and fittings are new and really good quality. I was living at Versus and it was okay, but this is newer and cheaper than there. The rooms are much bigger and everything is better value. I’ve heard poor things about Strategic, but so far it’s been okay. Very happy with my move.
