Continental Towers is a two-tower building located at the west end of downtown Calgary. Each of the towers is 25 storeys high and have a selection of one and two bedroom units which can be rented in unrenovated, part-renovated and fully renovated states. Pets are only allowed in the apartments without carpets.
All of the units are of good sizes and layouts and have good storage options. The unrenovated apartments have old-fashioned kitchen and bathroom cabinets, older appliances and carpeted flooring. Part renovated can include any of those options being upgraded such as new vinyl plank flooring, new cabinetry, but still retaining some of the older elements. Fully renovated units have new blinds, vinyl plank flooring throughout, new tiling, modern cabinetry, quartz countertop and new appliances (fridge/freezer and oven/stove) that may be either white or stainless steel.
The 3 elevators in each tower are very old and we were told very temperamental, with some only stopping on certain floors or sometimes every other floor, or sometimes not working at all. We were not given any indication whether renovation or replacements were in the pipeline.
There is a gym in one of the towers that can be used by all tenants. There are also shared laundry facilities in each tower. Parking is in the garage which sits between the two towers. You can choose either assigned or unassigned parking, with assigned being slightly more expensive.

DISGUSTING PLACE. This place is a slum. PLEASE don’t rent here. COCKROACHES are relentless, we were sprayed and had to move out 6 times during 5 months. We were threatened with eviction and told our unit wasn’t clean and thats why we had the pests. Our unit was spotless, vacuumed every day and no food left out anywhere.
We got BED BUGS within days of moving in and had to pay for the spray and replacement of ruined belongings. Broken bathroom sink that was never fixed. Renovations are cheap and fall apart once you move in. Disgusting place. Windows are old and walls are thin. I can hear my neighbour breathing. Strip club across the street is so loud, fights and yelling wakes me up every night. PLEASE PLEASE save yourself the stress, misery and discomfort. SAVE your money, move somewhere safe, clean and comfortable. Management is horrible. Never fixed anything for us, shamed my roommate and I, and ignored our requests for a cleaner, safer unit.
Shame on you WRE.

This Apartment is the worst place in town. the COCKROACH is the big problem at this place. water is shut down every month and you have to gather some water for YOUR use on that day of the shutdown. It’s like living in a third-world country. to make it worst. you have to put all your stuff in the middle of the room packing them like as if you are moving out all over again. you are out from your place the whole day as the Pest marting is doing the spraying. because they just can’t do their job properly of getting rid of all kinds of bugs.that included bed bug. ants, and largely cockroach infestation the worst thing every 4 or 5 months or even earlier than that. you have to pack your stuff again.. otherwise, they fined you for $200 .they sent out this message to pack up all your stuff from the kitchen and washroom, closet, and storage room to move it to the other room. It’s a BIG INCONVENIENCE. is like moving out over and over again. Pest Martin company does not do their job so they another contract with this company. and the management to make the worst is the worst people.it needs a new face to stop this nonsense. and the garbage chute is not working. they locked it up. and you have to go downstairs to throw you garbage.

– Their office is the most disrespectful place. The entire tactic of the management is to intimidate and hide all the flaws in this building. Shame the tenants to create a feeling of avoidance.
– Kitchen sinks are always backing up even if you keep your own drains clean. Drain specialists that are called admit that the main pipes are jammed.
– Winter is the worst time when heating pipes are rattling and squeaking like there’s a soul stuck in them wanting to come out.
– Roaches come from under the front door!
– You have to vacate your unit for 8 hrs while they spray the entire building for bugs which hurts financially if you have a family with no where else to go and no option but to buy a hotel stay. To top it all during the pandemic.
– Parking is unsafe for cars. You always see shards of broken windshield glass in the parking lots.
– This place is a sham. Makes me wonder how such properties are allowed to function. Reinforces my belief that the City of Calgary has a weak redressal system. That its a landlords paradise where tenants rights are thrown out of the window.

Terrible service and rude. For a long time legal tenant, I have been unnecessarily asked about my tenancy few times and warned of being illegal here, like what made them think that.
-gym was screaming to be maintained with incomplete basic equipments for years. Now its closed “due to lockdown” even when the businesses and gyms elsewhere have opened.
– swimming pool no longer in service since years. I believe it’s officially closed
-water shutdown without notice
– fob stolen from camera surveilled area but didn’t care to look up in the camera when i knew the exact time it happened. Manager straight up dismisses saying they do not have time to catch the thief but I buy a new one instead. Like bro.. someone unauthorized could have access to the building.

Hands down the worst building in Calgary. They have bugs that’s they will not tell you about until after you sing your lease. Our apartment flooded two weeks into our one year lease and nothing ever got fixed. We complained time and time again and got no response. We had to move everything twice so they could spray for bugs. Elevators are constantly down. They will turn off the water with no notice. They have often let themselves into our unit with no notice and no emergency.
The laundry room is disgusting and the machines are so old they don’t even clean your clothing.

Please do not think of moving in. Horrible staff treatment. Roaches are going crazy in kitchen and bathroom. If you want to move in, first please talk to the existing residents and they will let you know about the place. When I asked recently the building manager about roaches problem and to do something about it. She was instead blaming me for it.

DO NOT RENT HERE!!! Unless you like living with cockroaches and not getting your deposit back.
Staff is awful too. Did not give two sh** about people living in filth. The bug problem is horrific, keep calling AB health board until they do something. DONT LET THE NEW RENOS FOOL YOU. The renovations are just bandaids so they could make the units look a little nicer for cheap.

NEVER RENT HERE
This is one of the most hideous places that I have ever rented its infested with cockroaches and other disgusting things. The staff members are absolute monsters , they are nothing but greedy people who will do anything for money. Especially the manager Jocelyn she is such a rude and inconsiderate person she has no way of talking to people I have no idea how she became the manager but it must have been some crazy person to put her in charge. When we moved in we deposited a safety deposit, and when we left we had to pay them back instead of paying the back its so dumb.

The only good thing about this apartment building is the location. Ive been renting here for a year. Since then, the management has sprayed for bugs 3 times in an 8month period. A big inconvenience. I have had to take the stairs a lot of times because the elevators have broken down and the mgnt doesn’t give a crap. Their excuse is “The elevators are being worked on”, its been over a year. Maybe they should hire a “professional company” to do the work. When they do any sort of repairs or maintenance, it takes them forever to finish. I have noticed the homeless hanging around, and its easy to get into this building with out keys. Just wait for someone to come to the door and your in. The security is a joke, they sit in the basement watching movies on their phones, or their asleep at there post. Every time you go into the office to get something done, your presented with an absolute BS story and they blame you for it. Also if you decide to change tenants, they charge you a big fee to get it done and they dont tell you about it until you get a notice stuck to your door.
I should have moved out of here a long time ago.
DONT RENT HERE.

This is the worst place to live. Bed bugs, broken elevators, poor staff, homeless in the building, vehicles broken into, the list goes on and on. As for pros, no, nothing!
Long-Time Resident - June 9, 2019 @ 13:04
Long term-resident who is leaving in August. I’ve only been here for the last few years due to financial issues during the down-turn. I live in an original apartment, with no renovations. This is, by definition, a slum building the last 7-8 years. No maintenance (or very little) has been done to keep it up to standards.
The stories about the elevators are true. I’ve been late for work because the elevators were not working. To be fair, they are making renovations but there is still a long way to go before this will ever be a decent place to live. Until the elevators are renovated (they were supposed to be done in March, but it is June and I think they are working on the freight elevator now). Last year there was a water-pipe burst on the 2nd floor – twice – due to homeless leaving the garage door open in February. The repairs for these two floods are still going on. Yes, that is 16 months later.
The garage is finally under-going renovations as well… the last two years. They are redoing all the floors and supports. It has a new sprinkler system. What drew me to this building when I came to Calgary was the price was right, it was a 35 yr old building which was decently maintained, with resident managers, a courtyard you could use 3/4 of the year, a pool, sauna and huge floor plans with a great balcony. Somewhere in the first 7 years, we lost our resident managers and so with no one who worked for WRE actually living here, the building just took a dive. The elevators became damaged in February 2012 when the Bow backed up (many sub-basements were flooded along 9th Street that weekend). They have not been properly repaired since.
There is a constant rotation of staff and you rarely see the same person twice in the office when you go there. Calls and emails are never returned and if they are, it is usually to insult your intelligence with things like “well I have video showing the taps working now and maintenance said you just don’t know how to turn a tap off” or “We don’t know why you expect us to clean your carpet after you had a flood in your apartment from the living room heater” (a flood that was caused by their maintenance not doing their job by turning off the heat properly. I’ve also been told that it was not their problem that there was a smell in my closet after there was a tiny leak in the bathroom wall…. so yes, I’m sure there is mold in the walls too. I won’t mention the multi-legged creatures that live there or how we had to remove everything from our kitchens and bathrooms 3 times this winter so each suite could be sprayed. Instead of being supportive of us as our homes were being torn apart, we were threatened with fines and insulted. I look forward to a new home in the next few months.

Going on 1 out of 3 elevators since May 2018. And the one working breaks down often. WRE is a slum lord that doesn’t care. Continental Towers management should be forced to live in the building, on the top floor.
That way they would put up with the same crap we do and would be force to get things done.
